Constantine Confirmed For Multiple Episodes Of ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’
If you have been waiting for John Constantine to step into the Arrowverse, then your wish will soon be granted. ComicBook can confirm from the CW that the supernatural hero will appear on
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow for multiple episodes next season.
According to a release by Warner Bros., Matt Ryan will reprise his role as Constantine in the third season of
Legends of Tomorrow. The character will have a part in episodes nine and ten. No other details were given about the hero’s role in the series, but fans can look forward to seeing an extended storyline for the character.
ComicBook
reported Constantine would be coming to the Arrowverse last week during New York Comic Con. The announcement is one that fans have been waiting for after NBC cancelled its
Constantine series. The show, which aired between 2014-2015, was a cult hit with fans but failed to draw in widespread ratings. Audiences had hoped The CW would pick up the series and add it to its on-going slate of Arrowverse series, but the dream never came true. After a short bit on
Arrow in 2015, John Constantine faded away from the franchise. That is, until now.
Fans have long suspected that Constantine would show up on
Legends of Tomorrow, and they only became more suspicious when showrunner Phil Klemmer told audiences it would be a “crime” to keep the hero out of the show. Recently, the producer even told Rotten Tomatoes that the hero will appear in season three to do “an exorcism,” so the show’s gang will likely come face-to-face with some supernatural threat soon that requires Constantine’s expertise.
If you are not familiar with Constantine, then you have a bit of history to catch up on. The hero first appeared under DC Comics during a run of
Swamp Thing, but the hero proved popular enough to get his own series. John Constantine is a working-class occult detective and unparalleled con man whose known for his cynical wit. Despite his gruff attitude, Constantine is known for his humanitarian interests as the detective continues his dangerous work to help others who are being plagued by all things supernatural.
Legends of Tomorrow returns on October 10th.

First Details About Constantine's 'Legends of Tomorrow' Appearance Revealed
John Constantine is
officially headed to DC's Legends of Tomorrow - and we now know more about how he will return.
In a series of statements to
The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer
Phil Klemmer revealed how the show decided to bring back the fan-favorite character (played by
Matt Ryan).
"Having Matt Ryan reprise his iconic — dare we say legendary — role of
John Constantine on Legends is something that [executive producer] Marc [Guggenheim] and I have been working toward since season one, and now the stars have finally aligned." Klemmer revealed. "While we are working to finish our 2017 Arrow-verse crossover, which is no joke the most ambitious bit of network TV that four shows have ever had the audacity and insanity to endeavor, we were looking for a way to make an equally exciting 2018 return. That’s how we came up with Matt Ryan."
Klemmer went on to say why he believes Constantine is a good fit for the show - as well as a tease of exactly how he will enter the fold.
"As for the character of Constantine, we knew that an alienated, chain-smoking, bisexual, world-weary demonologist would feel right at home among our
Legends," Klemmer added. "His appearance in episode 310 will involve the following: a revisiting of
Arrow season four and the events following that season’s finale episode, a confrontation with this season’s Big Bad on
Legends, some hot sex - something that has been in short supply on the Waverider thus far in season three - and Damien Darhk (Neil McDonough), because how can you do an episode about dark magic and not have Damien Darhk?"
With Constantine best known for his self-titled NBC series, Klemmer hinted that the episode will follow a similar sort of supernatural horror style.
"More than anything, the episode promises to be scary as you know what — tonally it’s
The Exorcist meets
One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest." Klemmer revealed. "Demonic possession in a mental institution, what’s not to love?"
Legends of Tomorrow returns on October 10th.
