At a Tokyo event commemorating the release of the
.hack “Light Edition” art books, CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama touched upon the status of the
.hack series.
Asked about potential PlayStation remakes, Matsuyama said: “There is a lot of desire for a PS Vita remake or for HD remakes on PS3 or PS4 of the .hack series. However, right now, it’s very difficult to develop an original series for home consoles. But, that doesn’t mean we aren’t preparing anything.”
He continued: “Right now the
.hack series is
Guilty Dragon. What I had actually said before was that sales for
Guilty Dragon are stable, and when I was told ‘
.hack is looking pretty good, you should do something with it soon,’ I said ‘There might be something!’ I’m preparing for when I’m able to develop something properly.
“It’s thanks to everyone’s support that I’ve kept it in mind. Not that I’m saying you owe me or anything. (Laughs.) I hope everyone is excited. Old-fashioned cell phone users will have to change models. (Laughs.) By all means, please enjoy
Guilty Dragon and keep a watchful eye out for future developments of the
.hack series.”
The latest
.hack game, a fighting game spin-off called
.hack//Versus, launched for PlayStation 3 in Japan last June.
