Still Nobody's Sidekick: Warner Bros. Animation Begins Production on Season 3 of “Young Justice,” Based on the Iconic DC Super Heroes

The Team is back and it’s “business as usual.” Warner Bros. Animation has begun production on a third season of all-new episodes of the acclaimed hit, action-animated series “Young Justice,” based on the characters from DC Entertainment. Season three promises new twists, turns and dangerous new threats for the team, but most importantly, the opportunity for fans to finally continue the adventures of some of their favorite Super Heroes. Further details about the new season — including premiere date and network partner — will be announced at a later time.

Heralded by Entertainment Weekly as one of the “9 Best Animated TV Series Drawn from Comics,” “Young Justice” has been equally praised by critics and viewers for its impressive visuals and rich storytelling. The series reached more than 25 million unique viewers in each of its two seasons on Cartoon Network.

“The affection that fans have had for ‘Young Justice,’ and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us,” said Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series. "We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.”

Producers Brandon Vietti (Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman: Doomsday) and Greg Weisman (Star Wars Rebels, Gargoyles) will be returning to the series.

In “Young Justice,” the teenage Super Heroes of the DC Universe come of age in a world of super powers, Super-Villains and super secrets. Used strategically as the secret covert weapon of the Justice League, Nightwing, Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and a host of others strive to prove to their legendary mentors, as well as to themselves, that they have what it takes to be heroes.

  • O fator de Samurai Jack estar voltando em nova temporada pelo seu criador, Tartakovisky;
  • Novo Duck Tales (medo....:khuh)

Young Justice Season 3: Everything We Know
The fans have won! Young Justice: Outsiders — aka Young Justice Season 3 — is now in production, and should arrive later this year.

Kayti Burt Mike Cecchini
Jan 5, 2018

Critically-acclaimed Young Justice animated series was canceled after two seasons back in 2013, never to be heard from again... or so it seemed. Fast forward three years and Warner Bros. Animation announced that it has begun production on season three of the action-animated series, to be called Young Justice: Outsiders, based on some of the most popular characters from DC Comics.

So, why the change of heart? According to Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series:

The affection that fans have had for Young Justice, and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us. We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.

Original producers Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman will be returning to the series.

Young Justice Season 3 Release Date
Warner Bros. Television announced that Young Justice: Outsiders would be hitting a "DC-branded direct-to-consumer digital service" sometime in 2018. The DC-specific digital service will also include live-action drama series Titans, a new show from Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter.

It sounds like it will be late 2018 before we get to see Young Justice Season 3, so you have plenty of time to catch up on the first two seasons before then.

Young Justice Season 3 Story
Here's an official synopsis for Young Justice Season 3...

In Young Justice: Outsiders, the teenage Super Heroes of the DC Universe come of age in an animated world of super-powers, Super-Villains and super secrets. In the highly anticipated new season, the team faces its greatest challenge yet as it takes on meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy.

Young Justice Season 3 Characters
A few nice details were revealed at SDCC. For one thing, Young JusticeSeason 3 will have a full 26 episode order this time around. For another, we're getting some new characters, and some new costumes for our returning favorites.

Your eyes do not deceive you, that is indeed Static Shock on the team, and that's Bart Allen in the Kid Flash threads.

From left to right, that's Arrowette, Traci 13, and Spoiler.

Greg Weisman also mentioned that they're bringing in obscure Superboy character Bash Bashford this season. We don't know if he was joking or not.

We'll have LOTS more info on Young Justice Season 3 coming soon!

...Achei mais algumas notícias:

Young Justice: Outsiders is the title of the upcoming third season of Young Justice, preceded by Young Justice: Invasion, and it will be comprised of 26 episodes. Young Justice: Outsiders was announced on November 7, 2016[4] after years of online fan activism for the series to be renewed.

Production on the series commenced in mid-November 2016 and voice work purportedly began around April 2017. Young Justice: Outsiders is expected to debut in the fourth quarter 2018 on an upcoming "DC-Branded Digital Service".

History
Comeback
Greg Weisman attributed the show's return to the existence of streaming services, particularly Netflix, where the show garnered high viewings. Executive producer Sam Register reportedly said that both Weisman and Brandon Vietti had created "the perfect binge-watching show five years too soon". Weisman posited that Young Justice might not have been cancelled if the model of binge-watching had been mainstream when the show was still on the air. Additionally, Brandon Vietti cited the power of social media, which grew exponentially since the show's cancellation, and the paramount role it played in allowing fans to have their voices heard.

Weisman claimed that he and Vietti were told about the show's return circa ten days before it was officially announced. However, he admitted to not being entirely surprised, because they had talked to Sam Register a year before and the chances of the show returning seemed higher. Vietti japed that "the time jump between season oneand two worked so well in the story, [they] wanted to do it in real life".

Moving to a streaming platform
Regarding the changes in the writing process, Vietti observed that, on a streaming service, they are no longer restricted by the Broadcast Standards and Practices, as they were on Cartoon Network. He went on to say that, while they have no intention of changing the show dramatically, now they have more "creative room to progress into more adult themes and storylines", which reconciles with the nature of the show. However, he guaranteed that the show won't become a "swear" or a "gore fest".

For Greg Weisman, the biggest difference has been the lack of the three-act structure, because on a streaming service there are no commercial breaks in the episodes. He noted that despite still using it mostly by force of habit, this new paradigm sometimes changes the way they work.

Released details
Since production was announced, Warner Bros. has imposed an "info-embargo" on the show, which prohibits everyone involved from talking about it. The only public statement about the show came from Greg Weisman, when he revealed that the third season would "play off of stuff" from the previous seasons, as well as the companion comics.

On April 25, 2017 an official press release announced the title of the season, along with a plot summary:

"In the highly anticipated new season, the team faces its greatest challenge yet as it takes on meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy."[3]On the same day, Brandon Vietti tweeted a pithier logline: "The Team battles meta-human trafficking to protect a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race."

On July 21, 2017 at San Diego Comic-Con, Greg Weisman, Brandon Vietti and Phil Bourassa revealed new designs for old characters, and unveiled three new ones: Arrowette, Thirteen and Spoiler. They also announced that the season would comprise 26 episodes, ten of which had been recorded and another 12 were in progress. The final four episodes hadn't been written yet, but Weisman stated that they knew where they are going with them. Moreover, Brandon Vietti confirmed that there would be another time jump of unspecified length between seasons, because in order "to really delve into a character's story, you need to jump a little forward in time sometimes". Greg Weisman also offered some insight into the overall plot:

"Since the Reach in season two sort of revealed the Meta-Gene, everyone is getting into the act—first world nations, third world nations, rogue nations, corporations, aliens from outer space. Everyone wants to weaponize the human race and meta-human trafficking is the major thing that our characters are dealing with this season."

Without going into specifics, Weisman hinted that the season would feature some elements from the current DC Comics Rebirth run. Finally, in a post-panel interview, Weisman revealed that Bash Bashford, a very obscure character from old Superboy comics, would debut in season three.

DC Universe Streaming Service Launches in September
DC Universe is the one-stop streaming and comic book service for DC superhero fans. Here's everything you need to know.

We've long known that there's a DC Universe streaming service coming. The superhero-focused platform will be the home to original programming like the long awaited Young Justice: Outsiders, a live action Titans TV series, a Harley Quinn animated series, a Doom Patrol show, and even a new Swamp Thing TV series. But DC Universe has even more to offer.

“DC Universe is so much more than a streaming service. It’s a welcoming place for everyone to immerse themselves in their own level of DC fandom, with the epic characters, stories, and experiences they have come to expect from DC,” said Jim Lee, chief creative officer and publisher, DC Entertainment in a statement. “We are investing in and creating original, high-quality shows including the new Titans series, and curating the most beloved nostalgic content, while at the same time elevating the comic reading experience to new heights. Nothing this robust has ever been offered to fans before.”

Fans have long wondered when DC would offer up a comics service similar to Marvel Unlimited, which gives readers access to tens of thousands of books from the Marvel library for a monthly fee. DC Universe is eliminating the distinction between fans of their heroes on TV, movies, or on the page, and membership will also include access to curated selections from the DC Comics library. DC Universe promises access to milestone books like Action Comics #1 and Detective Comics #27, modern touchstones like Geoff Johns and Jim Lee's Justice League and Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's Batman, and more obscure titles for the fans who want to dig deeper (during a demo session, I found large runs of All Star Squadron and the underrated Starman series from the late 1980s, for example).

“We wanted the DC Universe comic reader to be a blend of art and technology that would further enhance fan’s experiences of the live-action and animated programming on DC Universe,” said Dan DiDio, publisher, DC Entertainment. “This hand-curated selection from our decades of comic creations gives fans a thematic digital longbox to carry with them on the device of their choosing or lets them watch exclusive video content on a big screen followed by the comic that inspired it.”

In addition to the comics and original programming, you'll be able to watch classic superhero movies (such as the Christopher Reeve Superman films), a selection of the DC animated movies, and TV. At launch you'll find the first two seasons of Batman: The Animated Series, for example, as well as a remastered, HD version of the classic Wonder Woman TV series starring Linda Carter, as well as favorites like Batman Beyond, Justice League, and Batman: The Brave and The Bold.

Check out this teaser...

There's a social component, too. DC Universe will allow fans to create their own playlists and reading lists, which can be shared both externally and internally, within forums hosted on the service. There's a DC Encyclopedia that will be available for fans, too.

“Developing new ways for consumers to access some of our most popular and iconic brands and franchises as well as exclusive new content whenever they want, on the devices they choose, is one of our studio's top priorities,” said Craig Hunegs, president, Warner Bros. Digital Networks. “The DC Universe platform gives fans a place to tailor their experience and build a direct relationship with DC in a way they never could before.”

The service will launch on September 15th (which also happens to be Batman Day!), and you can pre-order an annual membership for $74.99 at DCUniverse.com. If you pre-order before the service launches, you'll get an extra three months of the service for free. Fans who pre-order between July 19 and July 25 will be entered into a drawing for two tickets to the Aquaman movie premiere in December 2018.

If you prefer to pay a monthly price, the service will cost you $7.99 a month.
