Nova Revista mensal do Adão Negro anunciada

DC probably didn't plan for Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam movie to be moved from July to October, but nevertheless, it is launching a brand new Black Adam comic book series in June starring the sometimes-supervillain/sometimes-anti-hero.
Written by Christopher Priest and illustrated by Rafa Sandoval with painted covers by Irvin Rodriguez, the new series launches June 21 and according to the publisher the series brings Priest's trademark wit and skill for character deconstruction" to a "fresh examination of the man you love to hate!"

"Forgive the cliché, but I've rarely been this excited about a new project," says Priest in DC's announcement. "DC has provided an amazing opportunity for me to explore and, to some degree, reimagine this character in a very new light while bringing new challenges and consequences to a man who has lived far too long and is desperate for redemption.
"Rafa Sandoval brings palpable voltage to every panel, bringing out my Kirby-Simonson Big Noise instinct as Rafa's gifts take me to places I never knew I wanted to go. My only regret is we only have 22 pages a month for this."

According to the publisher, when Teth-Adam is infected with an incurable plague destroying his immortality, he must face the fact the DC Universe is not ready to forgive him for his centuries of past sins.
Choosing a successor to transfer his power to who he hopes will redeem his legacy and protect his homeland of Kahndaq, Black Adam and the successor become mystically "handcuffed," creating what DC calls "perhaps the most volatile and dysfunctional super-team in DC history!"

"I have been a lifelong fan of everything about SHAZAM!, and one of the things I always wanted is to draw a charismatic villain, and Black Adam is perfect for this," says Sandoval. "This is the first time I’ve had an opportunity to work with Christopher Priest, and his attentiveness, attention to details and openness makes him a great creative partner."

In addition to the cover by Rodriguez, June 21's Black Adam #1 features variant covers by Sandoval, Cully Hamner, Mikel Janin, two by Lucio Parrillo, Crystal Kung, and Travis Mercer and Danny Miki.

Mas como o Priest é foda, acompanharei com louvor! Sandoval tbm é uma boa escolha pra desenhar.

li só a primeira história quando saiu aqui em alguma revista, mas não cheguei a acompanhar depois.

vi dois episódios dessa mini-série até agora, acho que está seguindo a mesma linha de Y The Last Man, vagamente inspirado no material original.

Black Mass Rising: A Plodding Dracula Sequel with Pretty Art​

Black Mass Rising is a very pretty book, a gothic horror that takes place a year after the supposed death of Count Dracula. In Transylvania, a new demonic entity begins to terrorise a remote town, causing death in its wake, but a mysterious healer and Mina Murray arrive to prevent the rising darkness, the triumph of Satan, and the rumoured return of Dracula. They have to travel with a village girl to confront the evil and find out if Dracula has truly returned, encountering horrors and challenges along the way.



The story of Black Mass Rising can be considered "Dracula fan fiction" since it's a revisionist sequel to Bram Stoker's Dracula that rewrites the story to portray Dracula and Mina's relationship as a tragic romance instead of the horrific coerce of a young woman by a predatory, demonic older man. This Dracula is a young, sensitive, misunderstood goth. It was hard to see what the point of this story other than to tell a downbeat horror apocalypse in the wake of that revised doomed romance. Mind you, Dracula was never high art. It was a gothic potboiler that captured the anxieties of its time: England's fear of foreign invasion and the repressed Victorian fear of unleashed female sexuality. It's always the male fear of female sexuality in horror fiction and movies.

The horror of Black Mass Rising is predictable and doesn't really have a point. The plot about a team of heroes going on a journey to confront a great evil is completely run-of-the-mill – it's every Fantasy plot that goes all the way back to Lord of the Rings. It also feels slow and plodding and way too long. Too much of the story is wasted on characters telling each other about their agonized feelings, usually in close-up, over and over again. The identity of Dracula is so obviously telegraphed that by the time it's revealed at the climax over 100 pages later, it's completely anticlimactic and a bore. This is a problem with many comics these days, where characters spend too many pages and panels telling each other about their sad feelings, and even more pages and pages repeating those sentiments again several times. It's odd that editors don't tell writers that once is more than enough. Theo Prasidis' story would have been much better if it has been half the length and more concise. The only saving grace of Black Mass Rising is the artwork. Jodie Muir's painterly art that gives the book the feel a European feel, with the early parts of the book looking like a folk tale before turning into gothic horror, then apocalyptic doom by the climax. She deserves a long career illustrating graphic novels, as her work makes Black Mass Rising one of the classier-looking books in TKO Studio's catalogue.

Black Mass Rising would have been better if it was shorter and more condense. Instead, it wears out its welcome by being too slow, too long and appealing only to readers who fantasise about romance with Count Dracula.

Por curiosidade assisti uns filmes da Liga da Justiça, o Doom e o Flashpoint, mas depois vou tentar finalizar esse último universo (se estou correto) e seguir com os outros. Uma coisa que notei foi a linearidade da história. Sei que os filmes são curtos, mas as produções da Liga da Justiça são assim mesmo? Existe algo que se destaque e seja mais interessante de se assistir/ler deles?

Liga da Justiça e sua continuação Liga da justiça sem limites é algo sem precedentes de tão foda. Universo é construido aos poucos , 5 temporadas no total. Está no hbo max e bem melhor que esses filmes animados.

Young Justice tbm é bom, e creio que em questão de coesão de universo é até melhor que o desenho antigo, aqui a idéia de legado é muito presente.
Tbm no HBO Max 4 temporadas.

Essas 2 obras sempre vão estar em tops de melhores adaptações de personagens de quadrinhos.

Nova Mini saindo dos eventos da revista Wolrd's Finest - Batman vs Robin, escrito pelo Mark Waid Desenhado pelo Mahmud Asrar

That's Batman vs. Robin ... not Batman and Robin.

Writer Mark Waid's DC renaissance continues this September when he and artist Mahmud Asrar and colorist Nathan Fairbairn team for a five-issue limited series titled Batman vs. Robin.

The series (which will feature oversized issues) sees the always fraught relationship between Bruce Wayne and his son Damian Wayne bubble over into a full-blown conflict. DC is calling it an "epic battle of icons years in the making!"

For his part, Asrar described the series as an "event" to "shake things up for Bruce’s world," on his Instagram page.

The series spins out of the events of Waid's Batman/Superman: World’s Finest and the current 'Shadow War' Batman-Robin-Deathstroke, Inc. crossover by writer Joshua Williamson.

"Deep in the heart of Lazarus Island, the demonic legacy of the al Ghul family line has at last been freed, and the Devil Nezha is out for blood," reads DC's description of Batman vs. Robin.

In a bid to reclaim total domination over Earth, Nezha 'supercharges' magic and anyone who uses it gets overtaken by a demonic evil that "super-charges" their magical abilities to dangerous, unpredictable, and even deadly levels.

Damian falls into Nezha's clutches and Bruce is haunted by the return of an old friend while the father and son are pitted against one another.

Nezha is the main villain of the first World's Finest arc.

"...the first arc of World's Finest is, was, and always has been, designed deliberately to lead into what is going to be Batman vs. Robin," the writer told Popverse. "What I was trying to do with Batman versus Robin was try to take them into a realm that I'm not used to seeing them in, which is dark magic sorcery, rather than science, rather than logic and detective stuff. We've seen Batman and sort of peripheral magic, but I want to get into the down and dirty of it."

World's Finest, for readers not yet familiar, is a series with Silver Age sensibilities set in the past when Dick Grayson was still Robin (though towards the end of his tenure, trying on long pants for the first time) and in Newsarama's eyes, Robin is the star of the fun and funky series.

It appears Batman vs. Robin is also the fall major DCU fall event referenced in May 17's Shadow War Zone #1 anthology.

The story 'Inner Demon' by writer Nadia Shammas and artist Sweeney Boo flashes back to the younger years of Robin's mother Talia al Ghul. Frustrated over secrets her father Ra's al Ghul hides from her, young Talia makes a secret pilgrimage to Lazarus Island. There she meets her grandmother who reveals that Talia has a stronger connection to the Lazarus Pit, setting the stage for what DC calls a "major DCU event this Fall."

Waid also told Popverse that Batman vs. Robin isn't the only spin-off from World's Finest in the works. According to the writer, World's Finest's second story arc will also start in September and will also cross over with another new but unnamed limited series.

"They're two separate things," Waid says. "What the second arc is leading into is not on the radar yet… I can't hardly say anything, but there's something in that second arc that the payoff is, 'Oh! I didn’t realize that the payoff is part of something that I've known for a long time.'"

Given Batman vs. Robin begins in September, Newsarama also can't help but think of the fact the Robin ongoing series will be getting a new writer that same month, as current writer Joshua Williamson just announced this departure from the series after August's Robin #17 which sets Damian up in what DC calls a "shocking new storyline that will test his role as Robin and his place in the DCU!"


With this "shocking" new storyline and the absence of a known writer for the Robin ongoing series beginning in September, could Waid's Batman vs. Robin be related in any way?


Eagled-eyed readers might have already noticed DC teased the existence of Batman vs Robin in plain sight for some time. In August it's offering the trade paperback collection Batman vs. Robin: Road to War, a collection of Batman and Damian-centric stories, including stories from Teen Titans #43-44, Teen Titans Annual #2, Detective Comics #1032-1033, and a "two-part backup feature that sets the stage for a new chapter in the life of Damian Wayne" originally published in Batman #106 and Detective Comics #1034.
"A storm is coming…and a battle years in the making between Bruce Wayne and Damian Wayne is on the horizon," reads DC's description of the collection.

Neither Waid nor Asrar used the word "war" to describe the conflict at the heart of Batman vs. Robin, but Batman vs. Robin: Road to War is almost certainly connected to the new serie

Nova Revista mensal do Adão Negro anunciada

DC probably didn't plan for Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam movie to be moved from July to October, but nevertheless, it is launching a brand new Black Adam comic book series in June starring the sometimes-supervillain/sometimes-anti-hero.
Written by Christopher Priest and illustrated by Rafa Sandoval with painted covers by Irvin Rodriguez, the new series launches June 21 and according to the publisher the series brings Priest's trademark wit and skill for character deconstruction" to a "fresh examination of the man you love to hate!"

"Forgive the cliché, but I've rarely been this excited about a new project," says Priest in DC's announcement. "DC has provided an amazing opportunity for me to explore and, to some degree, reimagine this character in a very new light while bringing new challenges and consequences to a man who has lived far too long and is desperate for redemption.
"Rafa Sandoval brings palpable voltage to every panel, bringing out my Kirby-Simonson Big Noise instinct as Rafa's gifts take me to places I never knew I wanted to go. My only regret is we only have 22 pages a month for this."

According to the publisher, when Teth-Adam is infected with an incurable plague destroying his immortality, he must face the fact the DC Universe is not ready to forgive him for his centuries of past sins.
Choosing a successor to transfer his power to who he hopes will redeem his legacy and protect his homeland of Kahndaq, Black Adam and the successor become mystically "handcuffed," creating what DC calls "perhaps the most volatile and dysfunctional super-team in DC history!"

"I have been a lifelong fan of everything about SHAZAM!, and one of the things I always wanted is to draw a charismatic villain, and Black Adam is perfect for this," says Sandoval. "This is the first time I’ve had an opportunity to work with Christopher Priest, and his attentiveness, attention to details and openness makes him a great creative partner."

In addition to the cover by Rodriguez, June 21's Black Adam #1 features variant covers by Sandoval, Cully Hamner, Mikel Janin, two by Lucio Parrillo, Crystal Kung, and Travis Mercer and Danny Miki.

Uma BAITA acerto, Priest tem um run maravilhoso no Exterminador, entretando fico cético pq esse tema de "escolher sucessor" logo na volta do personagem a uma série, meio b*sta isso.
Mas como o Priest é foda, acompanharei com louvor! Sandoval tbm é uma boa escolha pra desenhar.

De qualquer modo, gostei também pois lembrou a Liguinha, muitas vezes os heróis são aquelas pessoas mais improváveis possíveis.
Que muitas vezes não sabem o que estão fazendo, mas tem coração no lugar certo, Jon é praticamente aquele aluno que ficou sem grupo e juntou a turminha do fundão, agora precisa refinar material bruto.

Quadrinista Tim Sale morre aos 66 anos​

O mundo dos quadrinhos perdeu mais uma lenda nesta quinta-feira (16). O ilustrador Tim Sale morreu aos 66 anos, após passar menos de uma semana internado em estado grave. A notícia foi confirmada em uma conta oficial do desenhista no Twitter, além de relatos de outros artistas. A causa da morte ainda não foi divulgada.

Ao longo de mais de três décadas de carreira, Sale se destacou por trabalhos para a Marvel e DC Comics, principalmente em HQs do Batman. É dele a arte de arcos como O Longo Dia das Bruxas e Vitória Sombria, ambos em parceria com o roteirista Jeph Loeb.
