Rumors: Crackdown Sequel Squashed, EA Entering the Octagon
Fresh dirt from the April issue of EGM.
By 1UP Staff, 02/26/2008
The April issue of EGM (chock full of Quartermann's monthly scuttlebutt) is hitting subscribers as we speak. And because we're generous (and have a copy of the mag), we decided to pass along a handful of Q-mann's rumors.
The juiciest tidbit is kind of a bummer: A Crackdown sequel looks like it won't happen any time soon. Sure, Microsoft has danced around the idea of making another addictive orb-hunting shooter, but Q-mann says even if Crackdown 2 does come to fruition, original developer Realtime Worlds probably won't be making it. Well, at least Realtime Worlds' upcoming game, APB, looks like it will keep our minds off those damn orbs...for now.
The Q also says megapublisher EA is looking to release a mixed martial arts game soon. Makes sense -- new EA Sports head honcho Peter Moore has been talking about exploring new sports. Still, it makes us wonder what fight leagues will appear in the game considering THQ owns the rights to Ultimate Fighting Championship.
It also seems like Sony's unique PSP game Patapon will have some sort of spin-off; rumor is something Patapon-related will pop up on the PlayStation Network. Oh, and remember when Q-mann said Dead Rising 2 was being developed in LA? Turns out his source got the city wrong. So where is it being made? Good question.
Now that's only a sampling of dirt -- be sure to check out the April issue (hitting subscribers now and newsstands soon) to get all the rumors.
