The April issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Shonen Sunday (Gessan) magazine revealed on Tuesday that Hiroshi Takashige and Ryōji Minagawa's Spriggan (Striker) manga is inspiring a new anime series by David Production (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Cells at Work!). Netflix will debut the anime worldwide.
The manga's story centers on Yū Ominae, a high school student who is also a Spriggan, an agent charged by the ARCAM Corporation to protect the ancient relics of an advanced older civilization from falling into the hands of states and entities who wish to misuse them.
Viz Media published three volumes of the manga as Striker in North America from 1998 to 1999. Viz also released all 22 volumes of Minagawa's Project ARMS manga in North America from 2003 to 2009. The Spriggan manga inspired an anime film in 1998, while Project ARMS inspired a 26-episode television anime series in 2001. Minagawa launched the Peace Maker manga (no relation to the similarly titled manga by Nanae Chrono) in Shueisha's Ultra Jump magazine in 2007, and ended it in 2017. Mingawa launched the ongoing Kaiō Dante ("Dante" Ocean King) manga in December 2015.
Minagawa and storywriter Eri Oka serialized the 11-volume Adamas manga from 2007-2014 in Kodansha's Evening magazine.
Yen Press published Takashige's Until Death Do Us Part (Shi ga Futari o Wakatsu made) manga with artist DOUBLE-S in 13 omnibus volumes. The manga ended in November 2015.
