"One tip I heard for low elo ADCs was "Just try to copy what the enemy ADC is doing" but I would like to know more specifics if anyone could tell me or link an updated guide."
The reason you do that is to keep the minion wave even. If it's pushing to you, then they have a bigger minion wave. If you fight them, you'll lose the trade because they have more minions.
If they have more minions than you and you try to get CS or thin the wave, smart players will trade with you. This can result in you losing a ton of HP. In these cases, you should let them push the wave all the way to your tower and CS there.
You have to look at the pros and cons:
Letting them push to your tower
Pros:
Cons:
- Safe from standard ganks.
- Safe from most hard engage.
- Enemy is vulnerable to ganks if they want to harass you.
When you push the wave to their tower
- They can tower dive you during the mid game with their jungler/support/mid.
- You can get harassed under tower.
- You can lose CS to the tower.
- Your tower can lose a lot of health.
- Enemy gets a free recall and potential roams.
- Because they pushed into you, they will level up before you (since you still have minions to kill).
It's the opposite of above. You get the opportunity to recall, buy, and get back into lane without missing much CS. If they stay in lane, then they are at a big disadvantage.
"For example, in a losing lane match up would I want to just let them push into my tower"
You generally don't let them push for free. Early on, if you are the ones pushing, you can get the level advantage since their minions are dying first. That combined with the big wave makes trades very favorable for you.
If they let you push, then they are giving up their advantage. But if they start chunking you, then you should let them push the wave to your tower and CS there otherwise you'll be forced out of lane.
"if the enemy ADC just backed do I shove immediately?"
Almost always. By pushing it to their tower before recalling you can deny them CS and reduce the amount of CS you lose. For them to deny you CS to your tower, they have to then push the wave all the way from their tower to yours.
Note: Top laners are a special case since they have teleport and if you blindly push into them, they could TP back and set up a freeze in front of their tower.
When you freeze a wave
Pros:
Cons:
- If you're stronger you can zone them from CS/exp.
- Freezing in front of your tower makes the enemy vulnerable to ganks.
It must be noted that if the enemy freezes the lane and starts zoning you from CS/exp, you can break the freeze in the following ways:
- Grabs jungler attention = more ganks.
- Since a freeze requires more enemy minions, if you're not stronger than they are and attempt a freeze, they can outplay you.
Now, if they see you do any of the above three things, they should break their freeze and shove the wave into your tower to deny you CS while you're roaming/recalled. Same goes for you: If you see them recall, push the wave hard into their tower, deny them CS, and recall yourself to buy.
- Recall and buy. When you come back you will have full health, mana, and items.
- Roam. They are essentially handing you a free gank into other lanes and map pressure elsewhere.
- Farm jungle camps. Great way to get gold and exp since you can't get anything in lane.
But what if you want to break the freeze without recalling/roaming?
This will cause them to think you've recalled/roamed and they will push the wave to your tower to deny you CS. But since you're still there, you can then walk up and farm the CS under tower. It must be noted that since they shoved the wave into your tower, they will get a free recall after that.
- Fake a recall. Either start recalling in front of the enemy or stand in the fog of war.
And as always remember to cancel people's recalls whenever possible. So many lazy players out there recalling in bad spots. If you delay their recall, you can negate a lot of their advantage. This also means you shouldn't be lazy with your own recalls either ;).
Então a wave constantemente puxou pro meu lado.
Isso me deu a liberdade pra controlar a wave.
