>10 years after the first movie
>Governments think the Jaegers are no longer needed because there's no more Kaijus
>A Chinese businesswoman who runs a tech corporation comes up with the idea of creating Jaeger drones and ditching the pilots.
>There's a group of seasoned pilots and a buch of young recruits who haven't seen action.
>Scott Eastwood is their trainer. Boyega was his co-pilot, but abandoned the program and Eastwood had to be reassigned, so they have some bad blood.
>Boyega is Idris Elba's son, but has ditched over a disagreement with his father. He's now a Jaeger parts scavenger in San Diego or something.
>While trying to steal some parts, he runs into a teen latine whose parents were killed by a Kaiju. She's a tech genius and built her own manlet Jaeger and she happens to be stealing the same parts Boyega needs for his mobster contact.
>Long story short, they end up in jail and are bailed out by the asian qt from the first movie, Boyega's adoptive sister.
>She offers to bail them out if they join the program. She's making a case that they need Jaeger pilots. Boyega is a natural and the son of a hero, and the latina is young blood and resourceful.
>They reluctantly accept and head out to the new base, where Boyega trades insults with Eastwood and nobody thinks the latina has what it takes.
>Also Charlie Day is now working for the businesswoman and pro Jaeger-droneification.
>There's also a Kaiju-worshipping cult that doesn't really amount to much.
>There's a new Kaiju attack and people think the cult did it, but they didn't. Then they think corporate lady did it, but she didn't either.
>Turns out Day is being mind-controlled by the Kaiju creators since he drifted with them in the first movie.
>He opens a new breach and a new generation of Kaiju emerge and merge with the drone Jaegers, wiping out the seasoned pilots and the fleet.
>The new Kaiju attack Tokyo. Boyega rallies the unexperienced young pilots to fight.
>The Jaegers defeat several drone-Jaegers and Kaijus before facing off against a big Kaiju that is like a living Kaiju-carrier.
>They win.
>Suddenly a hijacked super-Jaeger appears.
>He kicks everyone's ass and Eastwood dies, leaving Boyega without a co-pilot.
>Super-Jaeger escapes.
>That other scientist figures out Day is a puppet for the Kaiju masters and manages to hijack his connection.
>It turns out its plan is to open several breaches across the world allowing for a massive stealth attack.
>Each Jaeger has to go to one of the Breach sites and close it simultaneously for reasons.
>Latina becomes Boyega's new co-pilot.
>They face the Super-Jaeger in the Arctic.
>Big battle.
>The heroes win.
>Day is freed of the Kaiju Masters' influence.
>Eastwood is avenged.
>Corporate lady gets BTFO'd.
>The Jaeger Program is revived with more pilots.
>Sequel hook alluding that the Jaegers are going to Kaiju World to kick the masters' ass before they come back again.
