Virtual On Games on PS4 Are Scheduled to Release by November

Tanita plans to launch the new PS4 Twin Sticks controllers in November 2019, meaning Sega will release the PS4 Virtual On ports by then.
Famitsu published
an interview with Tanita’s Business Planning Department Representative Akiko Kubo. Tanita is the manufacturer of the new PlayStation 4 compatible Twin Stick controllers made for
Virtual On games. These Twin Sticks controllers were funded via crowdfunding.
In the interview, Akiko Kubo mentioned that the development of the Twin Sticks is currently at around 30%, and how Tanita is still adjusting the final button layout and the interior parts’ design. If everything goes smoothly, Tanita is planning to commercialize the PS4 Twin Sticks in November 2019. While Tanita and Sega are completely independent of each other, we can easily deduce with this that the
PS4 ports of the three Virtual-On games will be released by Sega before the end of November, as Tanita releasing the Twin Sticks while the games to play them with aren’t out yet would be nonsensical. The announcement of the Virtual On PS4 ports is the sole reason why the crowdfunding was a massive success too.
Sega Will Port Three Virtual On Games to PS4; Twin Stick Crowdfunding Project Restarted [UPDATED]
Here are more tidbits from the interview:
Seeing the Twin Sticks are scheduled for November, Akiko Kubo mentioned that Tanita might make an appearance at Tokyo Game Show 2019 in September to showcase them. If so, I think it’s highly likely that Sega will reveal the release date of the PS4
Virtual On ports at the same time, if they weren’t already released by then.
Tanita’s staff meets from 2 to 3 times a month with
Virtual On Series Producer Juro Watari to discuss the Twin Sticks’ development. They’re basically considering how to add new buttons to the Twin Sticks while not making the design that different from the 1995 original arcade ones so old-time fans don’t get confused. They’re carefully considering the size and weight as well.
Tanita will also commercialize spare parts for the Twin Sticks, and they’re considering selling parts to game centers with
Virtual On games. With that said, they’re developing the Twin Sticks in a way so they’ll last decades long, with very high durability.
In related news, Sega didn’t comment yet on when sales for
A Certain Magical Virtual On will resume. Players who already own the game digitally can still redownload it, and the online servers are still operational, meaning it should definitely come back soon. It’s highly possible the game will restart being commercialized along with the Twin Sticks in November.

Sega Will Port Three Virtual On Games to PS4; Twin Stick Crowdfunding Project Restarted [UPDATED]

Sega announced they're bringing back three Cyber Troopers Virtual-On games to PS4: the Original, Oratorio Tangram and Force.
Today, Sega announced that they will port to PS4 in Japan three past
Virtual-On games:
Virtual On: Cyber Troopers, Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram ver 5.66, and
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Forces.
Virtual-On: Cyber Troopers is the first game in the series, released by Sega for arcades in 1995. It’s a 3D game pitting two mechas against each other in a wide arena. The game was later ported to Sega Saturn and PC, and was also ported to PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013.
The
Virtual-On series had a huge impact on 3D arena versus games, with its influence still seen today on games like the
Gundam Vs. series or
Kill la Kill The Game. Part of the series’s success was thanks to the arcade version’s Twin Stick controller, which was later released on consoles as well to accompany the console versions.
This Twin Stick controller was also announced to make a come-back with these PS4 ports. In June 2018, a crowdfunding project to produce PS4 Twin Stick controllers was launched. The controllers were supposed to accompany the latest
Virtual-On game,
Toaru Majutsu no Virtual-On, which released for PS4 and PS Vita in Japan in February 2018
. Sadly, the crowdfunding didn’t reach its goal. Today, Tanita, the company producing the Twin Stick, announced they’re launching the crowdfunding again.
You can find its page here.
For now, all three ports have no release date or further information like a western release.
Update: The Twin Stick crowdfunding reached its goal of 44,6 million Yen (around 400 000 dollars) only a few hours after the
Virtual-On PS4 ports were announced, with 1231 backers. There are still 42 days until the crowdfunding ends.
