New Protections Added to Leaked 12606 and Fall2010 Dashboard?
>> A new beta version [build 12606] of the Fall 2010 [alias 'Kinect'] dashboard has been leaked on the internet a few days ago and it seems like Microsoft added new protections to it. Several users seems to report problems booting certain games from recordable media on 360s with a modified DVD FW.
One of the titles affected seems to be Fable III. The game boots fine from any media on the current dashboard on a 360 with modified FW, but fails to boot from recordable media on the leaked/12606 beta dashboard ["This disc is unreadable"] - while the retail disc will work just fine according to #FW@EFnet.

Right now it's unclear which games, DVD models and/or modified FWs are exactly affected.

The new fall 2010 dashboard might get official released tomorrow [Tuesday Oct 26th 2010] (unconfirmed date, but it will be before Nov 4th anyway) to all 360 owners, so we suggest you do NOT update if you have a modified FW until we know more about these issues.
JTAG users should of course not update at all (will lock-out old CB and make the JTAG hack impossible), they should wait for a new rebooter.

- Supports Benq and Liteon Drives (74850, 83850V1, 83850V2, 93450)
- Optimized PFI code to accommodate AP25 SS data
- Defeats current AP25 protection
- Protects console from logging AP25 violation
- Full disc stealth used by default
- Waveless booting, disc images are assumed to be correct!
- Split-Vid used as default

If booting an AP25 title without AP25 SS game will not boot but will still be protected from logging AP25 violation on current dash 2.0.12611.0
If LT+ encounters an unknown AP25 challenge, game will not boot but console will still be protected from logging AP25 violation on current dash 2.0.12611.0

AP25 SS are region specific for region locked games (Current Example NFS: Hot Pursuit is both PAL and NTSC - 2 different AP25 Patches)

If you boot the AP25 titles without LT+ you will probably be flagged for a ban.

You cannot spoof a different model drive as that can now be detected. With this release of LT+ you HAVE to have an original Benq or Liteon.

LT+ for slim 9504 is next followed by LT+ for slim 0225

Hoje a microsfot lançou uma nova atualização da dash, versão 12625.

Ela ativou o AP 2.5 para os seguintes jogos:

- CoD Modern Warfare 2
- CoD Black OPS
- Halo Reach

Esses jogos não esta rodando no iX LT+, pode ser que apenas injetando o SSV3 nesses jogos resolva o problema, pode ser que não.

New Dashboard 12611 - Fixes 'Boot to Disc', New Protection

On Wednesday, January 19th we will issue a mandatory dashboard update that (re) enables the ‘Boot to Disc’ option in the Xbox 360 dashboard. After you accept the update, you’ll be able to set the option to boot to the Xbox 360 dashboard OR directly to the game you have in the tray when you power up your console. This option can be found in the System Settings.

Additionally, on Thursday January 20th the Xbox.com team will ship an update that contains a small update to the Gamercards. We’ve updated the Gamercard look and feel a bit and removed gamerzone from the card. Other than that, the same amount of information is on the card. Here is an example:

It seems Microsoft also included a new protection to the update - certain backups won't boot anymore (like: Halo Reach, COD Black Ops and COD MW2) on certain drives (probably AP2.5-capable drives). Microsoft might have been able to activate AP2.5 on some older games.
Booting these games on 360 consoles with AP2.5-enabled drives can possibly result in a BAN (certainly if not using the LT+ FW).
If that's indeed the case, SSv3 for these games will have to be released for them to work on LT+.

This is an AP2.5 Update so naturally this does not affect non AP2.5 DVD drives (Early Hitachi & Samsung).

If you had LT+ flashed then you will NOT be flagged for a possible ban (good Job c4eva !).

If you did not have LT+ flashed and you tried to boot these games as backups then you are probably flagged for a ban.

AP2.5 Data both PAL and NTSC have been extracted (thanks to c4 and k3) and c4 is now working on the patches and testing will commence.

There will be no need for a firmware update.

We recommend you do not update yet until there is a working method tested and released.

There is no ETA on release so do not ask. if you ask then other members have my permissions to facepalm the offender and ridicule them until they probably start crying.

More about New Disc Format (xgd3) and C4Eva Comments

A highly placed development source has confirmed to Digital Foundry that the new disc format being beta tested in a new dashboard upgrade adds 1GB to the storage of Xbox 360 game discs.

The maximum space allocated to game data on the current disc format is just 6.8GB out of a maximum of 7.95GB on a standard dual layer DVD, with over 1GB dedicated to a DVD-Video partition that also contained anti-piracy security sectors. It seems that this video partition has either been drastically reduced or omitted completely in the new format Microsoft is looking to roll-out.

Beta testers of the new dashboard get a free copy of Halo: Reach once they are accepted into the new preview programme. We can assume that this isn't just a generous gift on Microsoft's part - more likely it is a disc pressed using the new format, and Microsoft is looking for data on performance on as many different systems as it can.

Beta Dashboard Flashing DVD Drives, XGD3 Halo Reach Discs, Russian AP2.5 Patches

>> As you might have read on our forums or elsewhere the last few days, the Beta Dashboard Microsoft released to members accepted into the System Update Preview Program is indeed flashing the firware of some DVD drives (only fat/slim lite-on and fat BenQ afaik). The new beta dashboard, which has also been leaked online already, seems to be 13141/13142 for those who updated through LIVE and 13140 for those who got the green update disc. Besides flashing these drives with a new Original Firmware, it also has a new set of AP2.5 challenges.

While there's still much to find out and analysed, Defosho posted a nice FAQ/Round-up of some findings - make sure to read his thread for the latest info, but here's what's in it at time of writing:

1) The physical DVD drive is flashed with new firmware
Some drives are being flashed during the initial update process. This is overwriting your current drive firmware, whether it is custom or original. This is the reason why all backups are failing to boot for some people after the update, because you no longer have custom firmware. Re-flashing back to a CFW will allow current backups to start working again. If you have an AP25-supported drive then the 4 AP25-active titles listed below have a new challenge set in 13141/2 so existing backups of these with current patches won't work.
Flashing back to a different drive firmware could result in unknown consequences as the kernel/hv may be expecting to be communicating with a drive with updated OFW.
In the newly flashed drives, you may find that you can't retrieve your drive key. However c4eva has stated that drive key retrieval won't be a problem for the current new fw versions.
The new full 256 KB OFW flash files from the $SystemUpdate are in the $flash_oddupdp[<]1..2..3[>].xex files. These contain the following OFW updates:
Slim LiteOn: PLDS DG-16D4S 0272
Phat BenQ: PBDS VAD6038 04421C
Phat LiteOn: PLDS DG-16D2S 02510C
Samsung drives are updated with files from $install_extender.xex which contains 4 patches: ms25p1f9, ms25p2f9, ms28p1f9, ms28p2f9. Each patch is 48.4 KB with and makes a couple of KBs of changes in parts of the firmware.
One Samsung MS28 dumped is patched with ms28p2f9
One Samsung MS25 dumped is patched with (in testing...)
If you have CFW and you update to the beta dash it may fail with an error (e.g E64). In this case you'll have to re-flash to OFW first before the System Update will succeed.
Please don't post speculation about other drives, PM me if you have verifiable info.

2) A new AP25 challenge table
Data from 13141/13142 dash:
- 4 known games are in the table - all known language versions of AC:B, Fable III, NFS:HP and Halo Reach.
- These 4 games each have a new set of challenges so the current available patches will not work with a LT+ CFW.
- Call of Duty MW2 and Black Ops have been removed from the table so unpatched and patched backups should work with a LT+ CFW. Confirmation to follow.
- Read my AP25 FAQ for more information about the table.
AP25 continues to be a successful anti-backup measure. Do not dismiss it.

What's next?
New CFW versions based on the new OFW is likely to be needed. Don't expect anything for some time, this won't be affecting anyone with a retail dash for a while yet.

There's also some information from C4Eva on IRC:

Members who got accepted in the System Update Preview Program also received a XGD3 Halo Reach disc (a silver one for those who got the dash upgrade through LIVE and a green one of those who have to update with the disc). Team Xecuter has some info about the new XGD3 format:

The data reads larger than a DVD+R DL – but that may be faked / new protection so we will see.
The disc updates dash to 2.0.13140.0
Testing begins…….

Russian hackers have also released a set of AP2.5 patches for all regional AP25-protected-games on both the current 12625 and 13142 beta dash. They have been confirmed to be working indeed, but according to Team Xecuter they are unsafe to use on LIVE:

Also….There are some Russian guys who released fake Ap2.5 patches. These are not real patches but data from the full range of the DAE table and NOT the disc which is where they should come from. The disc will boot yes but they are EASILY detectable. If you use live DO NOT USE these fake patches. If you do not care about live in anyway and will never connect to live then go for it. C4E has already confirmed that he is going to release a live safe Ap2.5 ripper very soon – it’s in development amongst a TON of other things.

Team Xecuter: New Dash Update Info and 0225 Unlock Update

For many weeks a dedicated team has been hard at work in preparation for the release of the new dash which started to roll out today (2.0.13146).

Although we have been quiet in recent weeks, work has been ferocious with a large group of talented, and very well known scene individuals, busting their asses to make sure that the work of the 360 scene keeps on rolling.

So now that the rollout has started, the team can actually start to implement much of the work into releases for public consumption.

Here are some things of note so you have a clue of what’s coming:
* After the update the drive fw is also updated with a new stock fw, rendering the drive unable to play backups (for now).
* When the drives are flashed back again with LT fw the previous AP2.5 patched titles are no longer booting (expected and will be updated with new XBC and 0800)
* It seems that the first update has only been sent to Liteon DG-16D2S and Liteon DG-16D4S drives (Unconfirmed)
* The key location on phat models is now in a different area, so a new JF will be released to accommodate this change which was already anticipated in advance.
* There has been EXTENSIVE progress with all the new AP2.5 challenges. New 0800 BENQ fw is almost ready.
* There is a new XBC (Xbox Backup Creator) that has been designed alongside the new 0800 ripping fw – you’ll love it :)
* There will be new LT fw’s for all of the new versions that have been released.
* XGD3 progress is being made and there will be an update on this soon.
* We have received unverified reports that after the update to a 9504 slim drive the write protect was enabled like the 0225 drives (Unconfirmed)
* All the slim key read and slim write routines have changed also (again fully anticipated). Easily fixed with new JF

We will also confirm that we have a solution to all unlock all 0225 drives so you can write the firmware. This has been 100% verified and working and we are producing the addons as we speak and will have them available as soon as possible. We will release 2 versions, a kit for pro modders to offer as a service and also a DIY mod type device that users can install themselves. There is a LOT going on so we are working as fast as possible on all projects.

So in the next few days/weeks you can expect new Lt firmwares for 0225 and others, a new Jungle Flasher, a new 0800 fw with new Ap2.5 support, a new Xbox Backup Creator and an addon to unlock 0225 and 0401 Liteon DG-14DS drives (which will also work on 9504 drives too if they become locked out)

we can only say this: "XBOX OPTICAL DRIVE EMULATOR aka XODE" is coming... For now we can not release specific information or images, which would benefit x360key...
after seeing the features and prices x360key we can say that:

1- Fortunately x360key follows the "old" approach of Wode... XODE instead introduces a new way of working really original... we will surprise you.
2- XODE will work on XBOX SLIM since its launch with a 100% support of AP25.
3-Half price then a X360KEY in production!!! thanks the new "original" concept of point 1...

We plan to release a first proof of working at middle/end of may with a nice video working on a X360 SLIM console... and a detailed review near the release of X360KEY... Production will be ready on JULY.

Bom, nos posts no forum lah diz que a maioria foi por conteúdo inapropriado na descrição do perfil, nenhum dos que reclamaram usam pirata. Foi dito de um que jogou com um pessoal que modded o zumbi, e um outro q não deram justificativas, mas falaram pra ele q foi por causa de cheating ou comportamento inapropriado durante os jogos.

Lembrando que no link passado nenhuma das pessoas foram banidas, tiveram a gamertag suspensa, mas o console ainda conecta na live se for com outra conta.

Sem falar que o link eh d um forum da microsoft direcionado a pessoas que foram banidas e etc, ou seja, dah a impressão que são vários casos pq soh se trata disso lah, mas nao eh um volume grande não.

Olha, pelo q me lembre, o xbox 1 se vc tentar entrar na live com um modchip vc nem conseguia logar dava erro, mas bastava desabilitar o modchip q vc conseguia entrar de boa mas só com orginais claro, nao rolava ban naquela época (q eu me lembre)
