Lashana Lynch to be the first female and black 007 spy ever
Sorry Idris Elba.
Bond 25 is flipping the script on the franchise, and we’re not talking about firing writers. It has now been confirmed that the next 007 spy will be Lashana Lynch, making her the first black, and female person to hold the title on the silver screen.
The new Bond film, despite its very rocky road, is on the way and we’re being graced with photos, tweets, leaks, you name it, Bond 25 is becoming a tangible reality.
Something few people back in the day would’ve thought to be a reality is that 007, the world’s most famous womaniser, would eventually be a woman.
Say hello to Lashana Lynch, a British star riding off her success as a major character in Marvel’s Captain Marvel film.
Captain Marvel was the breakout role for the young actress, 32, in the superhero movie she played Maria Rambeau. Rambeau was Captain Marvel’s best friend and stood as a confident yet fun-loving pilot.

Fast forward to now, Lynch is set to play ‘Nomi’ in the upcoming Bond 25. Few details are around about Nomi, apart from you know, how she’s going to become 007.
Yep, sorry Idris Elba, the next person with a license to kill and a lifelong friendship with Aston Martin is going to be the young Lynch.
In a recent article from the
Daily Mail, an insider for the film spilled that, “There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says 'Come in 007', and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman.”
“It's a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he's been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman.”
“Bond, of course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don't work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed. Well, certainly not at the beginning.”
Do remember that 007 doesn’t mean
James Bond. Seen as Bond is officially retired from MI6, there were some 007-sized shoes to fill in the office. Seems like those shoes were heels instead of dress shoes this time.
The choice of putting Nomi in the 007 drivers’ seat does beg the question of the future of
James Bond. The franchise may live, sure, but will Bond live. Is it now the age of Nomi?
The source added that the phrase 'Bond girls' is now forbidden, saying: “We were all told that from now on they are to be addressed as 'Bond women'.”
This is a modern and welcome trend that has been creeping its way throughout Hollywood, just earlier this year, ‘Men in Black’ had a female lead as one of the ‘Men in Black’, the world is changing, adapting to a more diverse audience, and we love it.
“This is a Bond for the modern era who will appeal to a younger generation while sticking true to what we all expect in a Bond film,” the source added.
“There are spectacular chase sequences and fights, and Bond is still Bond but he's having to learn to deal with the world of #MeToo.”
